Robert E. "Bob" Lindley, 81

Greensburg — Robert E. "Bob" Lindley, 81, passed away Jan. 25, 2012.

He was a resident of Greensburg. He was born May 5, 1930 to the late Robert E. Lindley Sr. and Mary Louise (Wright) Lindley.

He graduated from Pittsboro High School where he met his wife, Joan. They spent a short time at Purdue together then returned to Pittsboro to raise a family. Bob also spent a short time in the Indiana National Guard where he earned his expert marksmanship.

He is survived by his daughters, Beverly Piper (Terry), Angela Beeler (Ray), and Bobbi-Jo Manning; a son, Charles E. Lindley (Trish); a brother, Stephen Lindley (Liz); a sister, Carolyn Sue Lindley; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Lindley, March 18, 2008.

Bob retired from the Linde Division of Union Carbide after 32 years of service. Even though he spent his career in the business world he was always proud of his farm heritage. Farm life always tugged at his heart strings. In his retirement he was an avid reader, never missed a NASCAR race and enjoyed feeding the wildlife in his backyard.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at Pittsboro Christian Church, 216 Maple St., Pittsboro.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, NKF of Indiana, Inc., 911 E 86th St Ste 100, Indianapolis, IN  46240-1848.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Cremation Society of Indiana.
