Greensburg —
Ruth Sager, 86, of Batesville, passed away Friday, March 1 at St. Andrews in Batesville.
She was a former resident of Portland and Greensburg.
Ruth was born Dec. 18, 1926 in Portland, the daughter of Jesse and Dorothy (Hines) Hammers. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in Deerfield.
Ruth worked for First National Bank in Portland from 1948 until 1988 when she retired as Assistant Vice President of the bank. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Portland and the Greensburg United Methodist Church in Greensburg. She was a member of the Portland Evening Optimist Club.
Ruth married Elvin Sager on April 18, 1948 and he passed away on May 31, 2007.
Survivors include: son, Steve D. Sager (wife Su) of Sacramento, CA.; daughters Debra L. Flaspohler (husband Donald) of Batesville, and Cathy J. Sager (companion Joseph Calderazzo) of Washington. Sister Ruby Overholser (husband Lemoine) of Portland. Four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Diana Vance.
Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Pennville.
Memorials may be directed towards the Jay County Cancer Society or Trinity United Methodist Church.
