Word has been received of the passing of Capt. William C. Elliott, formerly of the Burney community and most recently residing in Stone Mountain, Ga.
He passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012.
Bill was the son of Perry and Edna Elliott, of Burney, and brother of Patricia Green, recently of Salem. He graduated from Burney High School and Purdue University.
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy, and children Stephen Elliott, of Peter’s Township, Penn., Susan Key (Tom) Evans, of Geneva, Ill., and Kathy Ann (Mike) Greenhut, of Dunwoody, Ga.
Grandchildren include Stephen Elliott, Audry and Elliott Greenhut and Adelaide and Charley Evans.
Bill spent 33 years as a USA pilot, flying 767 over International waters. He was a 16-year member of the Decatur County School Board.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 in the Community Hall of Park Springs Retirement Community in Stone Mountain, Ga. on 500 Springhouse Circle.
Bill’s college roommate Jim Hellmich, formerly of Decatur County, conducted services along with Col. Mack McNair, USAF, of Park Springs, Ga.
