James K. “Kenny” VanDyke, 73

James K. “Kenny” VanDyke, 73 of Manchester, Ky., passed away Sunday, Feb. 7 at Corbin Nursing in Corbin, Ky.

He was born in Frankfort, Ky., to parents James J. VanDyke and Irene Kelly Tharp VanDyke. He was married to Anita Marie Hardebeck VanDyke on Aug. 26, 1961, and she survives.

Other survivors include: sons Richard J. (Jennifer S.) VanDyke of Greensburg, David F. VanDyke of Manchester, and Brian K. VanDyke of Manchester; daughter Vicky M. (Danny) Baker of Manchester; grandchildren Amy, Krista, D.J., Allen, Alisha, Daniel, Joni and Chasity; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother Oscar VanDyke.

James graduated high school in Clarksburg in 1956. He was employed previously by New Point Stone Company, then Hartwig Trucking, where he helped transport the mail. He was a contract employee for the Greensburg Daily News as a carrier. James enjoyed fishing when he was young, as well as horses and working on cars. He was a member of the Community Church in Manchester.

Calling hours are at 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, Feb. 11 at the Lighthouse Southern Baptist Church in Greensburg. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery in Greensburg with Rev. Dwayne Barrows officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to James VanDyke Funeral Fund.
