Hubert A. Moody, 72 of Shelbyville, passed away on Tuesday, July 20 at Waldron Health and Rehab.
He was born in Rushville on May 1, 1938 to parents William Hubert Moody and Millie Minnie Crippen Moody, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his longtime companion Carol Shepherd.
Other survivors include: children Kenneth Moody of Shelbyville, Angela (Joseph) Logston of Shelbyville, Shannon (Danny) Brogan of Vevay, Ind., Larry (Teresa) Scudder of Clarksburg, Jimmy Scudder of Missouri, and Shawn (Ellen) Scudder of St. Omer; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Surviving siblings include: Flora Margaret Adams of St. Paul and Herbert Donald Moody of Batesville. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alberta Mae Moody and grandson Neil Wayne Tracy, Jr.
He lived in the area his entire life, mostly working as a mechanic at Shirks International for 25 years. He retired in 1999. He was a veteran, having served with the US Air Force. He loved being outdoors, camping, fishing, working on cars, telling stories of the past to his family and friends and playing with his grandchildren.
Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 24 at the Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Ray Sweet III officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hubert A. Moody Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
