John William "Bill" Moore, 81 of Westport, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
He was born on March 25, 1928 in Anderson to parents Ralph and Helen Marie (Morris) Moore. He was a lifelong resident of Westport and had graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1946. He had received an Associates Degree from Indiana Business College at Columbus. He retired from Muscatatuck State Hospital in 1985 and had previously worked for Golden Industries at Columbus.
He was a member of the Westport Baptist Church and the Franklin Memorial Christian Church at Franklin. He was a former member of the Westport Masonic Lodge 52 F. and A.M. He enjoyed doing genealogy and reading.
Survivors include: nephews Steve (Carolyn) Bowers of Dammeron Valley, Utah, Dale (Debbie) Bowers of Franklin, John (Diane) Bowers of Greenwood, and David (Shawn) Bowers of West Hills, Calif.; nieces Becky (Jim) Davis of Edinburgh and Rachel (Allen) Shelley of Smyrna, Georgia; nine great nephews; four great nieces; one great great nephew and three great great nieces.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; three sisters Eunice Jaunita Moore, M. Eileen Bowers and one sister in infancy.
The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 11 at the Westport Baptist Church with Rev. David A. Scaggs and Pastor Larry McAdams officiating. Burial will follow at the Vernon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bass and Gasper Funeral Home.
