— Robert E. Metz, 83, of Greensburg, passed away on Aug. 28at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Sept. 17, 1926 in Decatur County to William and Luella Dravis Metz. He graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1944 and was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He married Rheadawn Graue Rayner on Dec. 27, 1967 at Kingston Presbyterian Church. Robert spent his life enjoying his passion and hobby of farming & gardening. He was a member of Kingston Presbyterian Church as an elder, Decatur County Pork Producers, Decatur County Cattleman's Association, Lucky 13 Investment Club and American Legion #129. He was a past member of the Elks Club and served on the Decatur County Memorial Hospital Board for over 16 years.

Survivors include: wife, Rheadawn Metz of Greensburg; daughter, Katy (Stephen) Cavaleri of Whiteland; sons, Jeff (Susan) Rayner of Greenwood, Chris (Mary Jo) Rayner of Greenwood, and Scott (Anna) Rayner of Greensburg; grandchildren, Meredith and Nathan Cavaleri, Andrea, Morgan, and Bryce Rayner, Hannah, Ian, and Aaron Rayner, and Colin and Corrine Rayner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Charlotte Kincaid; brothers, James Metz, Charles Metz, and Phil Metz.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 31 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at Kingston Presbyterian Church with Military Honors being conducted by the American Legion #129 and VFW # 5584 and the U.S. Army. An Entombment will take place at 2 p.m. at South Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Rev. David Crowley will be officiating.
