Helen L. Parker, 95, of Greensburg, passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
Helen was born March 29, 1917 in rural Decatur County, the daughter of Arthur and Etta Mae Springmire. She was a 1935 graduate of Greensburg High School. On Feb. 14, 1947, Helen married James E. Parker and he preceded her in death in 1979.
Helen worked for 35 years as a sales clerk at Minear’s. She was also a member of the Kingston Presbyterian Church and the Kingston Presbyterian Women. Helen enjoyed her church, sewing and visiting with her family.
She is survived by her son Edward (Margaret) Parker of Greensburg, her step-daughter Elenor Drake of Lakeland, Fla., two grandsons William (Lori) Parker of Pittsboro, and Robert (Leslie) Parker of Goshen, Ohio; five great-grand children: Zachary, Brooklynn, Madison, Kylie, and Benjamin Parker. She is also survived by her niece, Judy (William) Baylis, and her nephews Lowell Clark and John (Patty) Clark. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, her sister Elizabeth Clark, her step-daughter Betty McIntyre and her step-son James R. Parker.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home and again from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday, Oct. 31. Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. at Kingston Presbyterian Church.
