Lawrence “Bud” Smith, 77, of Osgood, passed away Monday, Oct.
22, 2012 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.
He was born at Freeport in Shelby County Jan. 28, 1935, the son of Raymond and Leona Myer Smith.
He married Valerie Brewington Aug. 6, 1965, and she preceded him in death June 29, 2006.
Survivors include two sons: Larry Smith of Holton and Scott (Denise) Smith of Sunman; three daughters: Sherry (Dave) Wunar, Sheryl Smith and Sheila Vega, all of Chicago; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Zella Wyatt, of Greensburg and one brother, Robert (Clara) Smith of Holton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Evelyn Comer.
Bud attended Holton High School and was a 65-year member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Lawrence was a farmer and had worked with the Batesville Furniture Factory and was employed for 45 years with Bonn Aluminum in Greensburg.
Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles, Pastor Charles Miller officiating.
Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday.
Memorials may be given to Hopewell Baptist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
