Gerald D. Williams, 74

Greensburg — Gerald D. Williams, 74, of Holton, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born in the Flat Rock community, near Osgood, Feb. 24, 1938, the son of Glenn and Martha Rayburn Williams.

He married Carolyn Schlotman Sept. 12, 1954 and she survives.

Other survivors include three sons: Mark (Jana) Williams of Edinburgh, Steve (Beth) Williams of Nashville, Tenn., and Andy (Theresa) Williams of Greensburg; two daughters: Beth Hewitt of Batesville and Lisa (Denny) Granger of Columbus; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one brother: Milford (Carol) Williams of Bennington; two sisters: Beveryly (Chuck) Newlin of Osgood and Carolyn (John) Newlin of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Sue Rice.

Gerald was a graduate of Holton High School.

He was an employee of Cummins Engine in Columbus for 30 years, retiring in 1997. Following this, he worked at GECOM until 2010.

Gerald was a member of Union Flat Rock Baptist Church. Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16 at Union Flat Rock Baptist Church, Brother Malvin McCullough officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Memorials may be given to Rescue 69 in care of the funeral home.
