Thomas E. Glass, 88 of New Point, passed away July 19 at the Hospice in Columbus.
Born Dec. 10, 1921 in Mexico, Mo., he was the son of Frank and Pauline (Hardy) Glass. He married Iris Ann (Deiwert) Hatton on Dec. 28, 1973. He was a 1939 graduate of Trenton High School in Tennessee.
He served two years in the US Army, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. He served in Europe, Korea, the Philippines and Okinawa. He received two Purple Hearts while in Germany in WWII. He later worked 10 years at a missile support site in Mason, Ohio, and 20 years at H.C. Nutting, a testing laboratory in Cincinnati. His hobbies were high school and college wrestling, fishing and golf.
He was a member of the Christian Church at New Point and past Master of the F and AM Lodge in New Point.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Timothy (Sally) Glass of Springfield, Ohio; daughter-in-law Becki Glass of Addyston, Ohio; step-daughters, Janet (Charles) Chandler of Lexington, Ky. and Sandra (Bob) Robbins of Columbus; step-sons Darrell (Debbie) Hatton of Greensburg and Lyle Hatton of Speedway; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, one son, Michael Glass, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 23 and services at 10 a.m. on Saturday, both at New Point Christian Church with Pastor Mark Vice officiating. Burial will be in Clarksburg Cemetery with military graveside rites. Memorials are suggested to New Point Christian Church or the Hospice of South Central Indiana care of the funeral home. Arrangements were made through Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville.
