Joy A. Drake, 86 of Greensburg, passed away Saturday, July 24 at the Arbor Grove Nursing Home in Greensburg.
She was born Jan. 29, 1924 in Rush County, the daughter of Park and Irene (Amos) Foster. She was a 1942 graduate of St. Paul High School. She worked at Stewart's Ladies Apparel, the Golden Rule Store and Walmart. She was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church, the VFW Auxiliary and the Decatur County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She married Wilford Drake on June 27, 1942 in Greensburg and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2008.
Joy is survived by one son, Val (Sharon) Drake of Greensburg, one step granddaughter, Stephanie and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilford, and one brother, Joe Foster.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday July 27 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday July 28 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Moore officiating. Entombment will follow in the East Hill Shrine Mausoleum in Rushville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
