Euchre tourney raises $8,000 for Special Olympics.

Greensburg — The Greensburg Rotary Club’s 12th annual euchre tournament, held at the Knights of St. John Saturday, saw 92 players and raised more than $8,000 for the local branch of Special Olympics.

Bill Ernstes, co-chair of the committee, expressed disappointment that this year’s turnout was smaller than crowds in the past.

Tournament players were treated to lunch, and a grand prize of $1,000, as well as several hundred dollars in secondary prizes.

“A lot of work went into this,” said Ernstes.

The money will be given to Special Olympics of Decatur County, to help the organization obtain an air-conditioned bus.
