After three weeks of gathering donations, MDL Coffee & Tea wrote a check for $50 to give to the Agape Center.
$34.92 was donated in cash, and a generous individual wrote a check for $60. The grand total, with MDL’s $15.08 donation, was $110.
“I wish there had been more,” said Dr. Layne, “But every little bit helps.”
Dr. Layne was pleased overall with the positive response.
MDL is also planning to participate in more fundraising. Next is the Edelweiss House, which is operated by Sister Patricia O’Bryan.
The Edelweiss House cares for children whose family may be struggling for a number of reasons. The home is not a foster home, and has set dates for when children will return.
Parents are also encouraged to communicate with their children daily. The Edelweiss House runs solely on donations, and is an official 501(c)3 non-profit domestic corporation begun in 1997.
Edelweiss House seeks to prepare a loving home for children while families sort out their problems. The goal is to reunite the children with their parents once the problems have been appropriately weathered.
MDL will also have an official ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Dec. 6 via the Greensburg-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce.
