Greensburg —
At its regular meeting Wednesday night, the Decatur County Area Plan Commission appointed officers for 2013.
Long-time Commission member Albert Armand was re-appointed president. Commission member Jay Hatton was appointed vice president, and member Andy Scholle was appointed secretary. The Board approved all three unanimously.
Also Wednesday night, the Commission heard a request from local business owner Joe Raver to modify the zoning restrictions on 3.51 acres of property at 7935 East State Road 46, Greensburg, in Salt Creek Township.
According to documents, the property, which is owned by Raver, sits “just east” of Raver’s business, Raver Ready Mix.
Raver made the request, the meeting agenda states, to “expand his concrete business.”
Raver himself told the commission that he “wants to build a bigger pre-cast building.” That structure, he added, would be between 6 to 8,000 square feet in size.
Raver added, too, that he wanted to expand the property to allow for future business expansion. Raver Concrete, he explained, employees around eight workers, with its main product being septic systems.
Before rendering a decision, the Commission asked for comments from any neighbors near the site who might be affected by the change.
When there was no comment, after brief further discussion, the Commission ultimately voted unanimously to grant Raver’s request.
The next regular meeting of the Decatur County Plan Commission is at 7 p.m., March 6, at the Decatur County Courthouse.
