ABATE Christmas party coming Saturday

Greensburg — American Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE) are set to ring in Christmas a little early this year, with the organization’s annual holiday party planned for Saturday night.

According to information provided by Bill Wilber, Decatur County ABATE Representative, the festivities begin with dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at Cutting Edge Sporting Goods. The main course available that evening will be fried chicken courtesy of Lincoln Street Grill. K-B Specialty Foods will provide the side dishes, Wilber said. Guests will need to bring along their own beverages.

The cost for the event, which is open to the general public, is $10 per person or $15 per couple.

In addition to a variety of food, the event is planned to be packed with entertainment as well.

“Torn Apart,” a local group of musicians who participated in September’s “Battle of the Bands” at the Fall Festival, are set to perform from around 6 p.m. to about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, giving way to featured band “Relic” at 8 p.m. Relic plays a mix of rock and southern rock, said Wilber, and the band anticipates performing for the duration of the event which is set to close at midnight.

Proceeds from the event directly benefit the ABATE organization which strives to see the rights and privileges of motorcyclists remain protected and respected.

Saturday’s Christmas party will be the third such event for ABATE in Decatur County, and Bill Wilber stated his hopes of seeing a “full house” at Cutting Edge this weekend.

“It’s gonna be a heck of a party,” said Wilber. “We’ll have good music, good food, good camaraderie, and I just hope to see a lot of people out there.”
