Smith joins Letts Hardware and Equipment

Greensburg — Letts Hardware and Equipment announced this week the hiring of Merrill Smith, of Greensburg, as sales representative.

Originally known as Pohlman Hardware for more than 40 years, Letts Hardware and Equipment opened in the fall of 1997.

The store is owned by partners David and Cindy Wilkerson along with Richard and Lisa Laws. They have continued to offer all hardware needs plus fence posts, gas grills, chainsaws, Scag and Bobcat mowers. Their farm equipment business has grown along with their service work. The company offers Gehl, Kuhn, Kuhn-Knight, and Letts Hardware and Equipment has recently become an H and S dealer.

They can help with parts, attachments, repairs, lawn and garden, construction equipment, livestock and manure handling, material handling, and hay/forage needs.                                               Smith graduated from Purdue University School of Agriculture in Animal Science in 1975.

He has been employed in the field of agriculture throughout his entire working career. He was a former sales representative for Premier Swine, Executive Secretary of the American Berkshire Association, and held management positions on swine farms.

Locally, Merrill has served as President of both the Optimist and Kiwanis clubs, Vice President of the Bread of Life Soup Kitchen, past member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, 4-H Council, and Greensburg FFA advisory board. He and his wife, Linda, have two daughters.

Smith said he is excited to go to work for Letts Hardware and Equipment as he has been a satisfied customer since purchasing his Gehl Skid Loader in 2007 and Scag mower in 2010. “They have serviced our equipment and brought it back like new. I am looking forward to the opportunity to help customers.”
