Greensburg —
The Letts Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) will hold its annual All You Can Eat Fish Fry, starting at 11 a.m., Feb. 23, at the Letts Firehouse, located at 4474 West County Road 700 South.
Letts Fire Chief Matt Morrow told the Daily News that the event will also include a free-of-charge Weather Spotter Class, starting at 9 a.m., also at the Firehouse.
“This is a great class,” Morrow said. “It’s sponsored by the Amateur Hamm Radio Club of Decatur County, and taught by a meteorologist from the National Weather Service. Even if you’ve taken this class, it’s worth attending again.”
According to the fire chief, the class covers how to recognize severe weather and includes in-depth discussions of cloud formations and how tornadoes form.
As to the Fish Fry itself, the menu includes cod loin, macaroni-and-cheese, baked beans, French fries and Cole slaw. Pepsi products will be served to drink, including regular Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Diet Pepsi and water.
Additionally, according to the event’s flyer, Psi Iota XI Sorority — Zeta Nu, will be serving homemade pie.
Morrow didn’t know what kinds of pie the group would be serving.
The sorority will also sponsor a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in conjunction with the Indiana Blood Center.
“They usually collect about 25 pints,” Morrow said. “But supply is pretty low state-wide right now, so we encourage everyone who comes out to give blood, too. It’d be great if they could collect more than usual this year.”
All proceeds from the event will go toward the new Letts Firehouse building, slated to begin construction later this year.
“From here forward, every penny we raise from every fund-raiser goes toward the new firehouse,” Morrow said.
