Greensburg’s Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE), area 927, will host a social, steak dinner and dance from 3 p.m. to midnight, Oct. 27, to benefit The Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent in Indianapolis.
According FOE secretary Rob Hunter, the event will raise money for the Hospital’s Audiology Department.
Although the charge to eat dinner is $14, Hunter stressed that the evening, which will include a four-hour set by the “Neon Heart Ache Band,” is free for anyone not eating.
“The public is invited,” he said. “You don’t have to be an FOE member. And you don’t have to pay if you’re not eating. It’s free to come and socialize and dance if that’s what you want to do.”
Hunter suspects, however, that most people will want to support hospital’s Audiology for Kids program.
“This is a great cause,” he said. “It’s an important cause. This hospital does free hearing screenings and performs cochlear implants for kids who would otherwise be deaf for life.”
According to an event flyer, the evening will also include a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament, raffles, pull tabs and a 50/50 drawing.
Unfortunately, Hunter lamented, Peyton Manning himself, now busy quarterbacking the Denver Broncos, will be unable to appear; however, he suspects that fact won’t deter Decatur Countians from attending.
