Greensburg —
A two-vehicle crash on State Road 3 Sunday morning resulted in minor injuries to three individuals.
According to a report from Decatur County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant Robert Duckworth, the accident occurred at approximately 11:19 a.m. when a southbound 2008 Toyota driven by Tyler Drew, of Verona, Ky., went left of center, striking a northbound 2008 Subaru driven by Enrico Galante, of Harrison, Ohio.
The impact of the crash caused Galante to lose control of his vehicle, which left the roadway and rolled onto its top, coming to rest in the west side ditch of State Road 3.
Drew’s Toyota contained two passengers; Galante was accompanied by one passenger. All individuals were able to extricate themselves from the vehicles at the scene. Those involved were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Three of the occupants were transported to Decatur County Memorial Hospital by ambulance for additional treatment. Lt. Duckworth expected them to be released from the hospital at some point Sunday.
The accident shut down traffic for approximately 45 minutes while emergency personnel treated the injured individuals and removed the wrecked vehicles. Drew’s Toyota sustained front-end axle damage. Galante’s Subaru is expected to be deemed a complete loss.
Duckworth said investigators are uncertain as to why Drew drifted left of center, but they do not believe drugs or alcohol to be factors in the crash.
In addition to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, emergency personnel at the scene included Decatur County EMS, the Greensburg Fire Department, the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Department, the Adams Volunteer Fire Department and Indiana Conservation Officers.
