County Crash Ends With One Man Dead
A single vehicle accident on a county road east of Greensburg resulted in the death of a local man on over the weekend.
According to a release from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, the lone driver of the vehicle, identified as Troy Hartley, 23, of Greensburg, went off the roadway in his 1999 Camaro at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Friday evening. Hartley was reportedly heading north on County Road 850 E., just south of County Road 400 N., and for unknown reasons skidded off the road and his car collided with trees in the area. The first tree was hit head on by Hartley’s vehicle, and the car stopped only when it was forced up against another tree. The vehicle went off the east side of the road before it skidded across the roadway and hit the trees on the west side of the county road.
Hartley was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is continuing at the hands of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department and the Decatur County Coroner’s office. Assisting at the scene was Decatur County EMS, the Clarksburg Fire Department, the Greensburg Fire Department and the Indiana State Police.
