Westport Methodist Goes Back In Time For The Future

Greensburg — To build something new, Westport United Methodist Church is thinking of the oldies with a weekend event intended to entertain the community.

The site of the new church - 808 N. St. Rd. 3 - will host a 50's-style drive-in event beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The scene may look like something straight from 'American Graffiti' or 'Grease,' as the church members take participants back the wholesome 'Happy Days.' The 50's theme will be reinforced by the attendance of a car club, which will be bringing along classic cars perfect for cruising or perusing. For a free-will donation, participants will be able to select from a traditional 1950s menu, including car hop restaurant favorites like hot dogs, burgers, milkshakes and floats.

All proceeds from the event will be added to the church"s building fund, enabling them to construct their new place of worship.

WWe thought it would be cool to do the 50's theme," volunteer Joe Pedigo noted.

The event should offer fun for the whole family, and it will continue as long as participants continue coming to join in the fun.
