Greensburg Police Lieutenant found dead at his home

Greensburg — At approximately 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Decatur County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a shooting at 1708 N. Tyrel West in Greensburg.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Larry G. Dance, 42, of that address, deceased.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday morning, and the Decatur County Coroner's office ruled Lt. Dance's death a suicide.

The preliminary autopsy results have revealed Dance died of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. Final autopsy results will not be available for several weeks.

The Greensburg Police Department released a statement concerning the death of Lt. Larry Dance Wednesday afternoon.

"We are deeply saddened at the sudden, unexpected death of Larry. He has been an officer with our agency since Jan. 1, 1995. Larry was always a professional and loved his job. He cared about the people and the community he served, and he will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife and two teenage daughters," the release said.
