Lost horse makes it home in time for Christmas

Greensburg — Six-year-old CeCe arrived home Christmas day after recently becoming separated from her family in New York.

Due to circumstances involving a family feud, CeCe’s family was unable to afford transportation for the Standardbred mare.

CeCe remained in Portland, Ind., healthy and cared for, but with her family in need of assistance to return CeCe to New York.

CeCe, once a trotter at a New England race track, now is a therapy horse for a four-year-old child whose muscles are deteriorating.

Those helping with the situation reported the four-year-old’s older sister also missed the horse.

Debbie Richards of the Triple R Equine Rescue Ranch, said that CeCe was doing fine while in Portland, but was happier to be home with her girls.

“She went up and nickered right at them,” said Richards.

The girls were glad to have their horse home, too.

“We had a bunch of wonderful people chip in,” said Richards

Richards said that “The Suite of Angels” haulers worked with the Triple R to get CeCe home.

The Angels offer discounts for horse rescues, and extended the discount to CeCe.
