NORTH VERNON - On Sunday, March 7 Indiana State Police investigators were contacted by the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department in reference to a fight that had occurred in the jail between two inmates resulting in serious injuries to one. The investigation revealed 31-year-old Aaron Meek of North Vernon and 49-year-old Ronald D. Dawson also of North Vernon were involved in an altercation in the late evening hours of March 6 and Dawson had suffered life threatening injuries as a result. During the altercation Meek allegedly had Dawson in a choke hold for an extended period of time causing him to lose consciousness. As a result of the altercation, Meek is facing the following charges: Aggravated Battery, Class B Felony; Criminal Recklessness, Class C Felony; Strangulation, Class D Felony.
