Greensburg —
Greensburg's Blockbuster, located in the small shopping plaza near the local Walmart SuperCenter, is scheduled to close Jan. 17.
According to Stephanie Kopet, Blockbuster marketing manager, Blockbuster is closing unprofitable stores.
Also, the Greensburg Blockbuster’s lease will expire next week and corporate officials have no inclination to renew the lease.
There are no nearby Blockbuster stores to which Greensburg employees could relocate, and Kopet was unable to respond to inquiries about unemployment or severance options.
Kopet said Blockbuster stores typically staff five to 10 employees.
A Blockbuster representative said there will be no sales on current stock, which includes new and used DVDs, Blu-ray discs, video games and entertainment memorabilia, prior to the closing.
