Greensburg —
Friday afternoon, not-for-profit nursing home Hickory Creek celebrated the work of its employees with cake and fried goodies in its annual employee of the year program.
Terry Wagner, city council member, appeared on behalf of Mayor Gary Herbert, and thanked all of Hickory Creek’s employees for their hard work.
The employees of the month from the past year were then recognized and given fleece blankets. These individuals included Susan Harpring, Kelly Meadows, Julie Reatherford, Ruby Matthews, Jo Griesehop, Melissa Ooley, Sherry Kellems, Sandy Maxfield, Nancy DeBusk, and Debbie Dickson.
The employee of the year award went to Nancy DeBusk, who received a gift certificate, and was crowned with a tiara and sash.
Nancy has worked with Hickory Creek as a day shift nurse for six years. She has worked in the medical field for 32 years, and studied at Ivy Tech.
“I love this nursing home,” said Nancy, “I couldn’t think of doing anything else.”
DeBusk said she feels that as a smaller nursing home, Hickory Creek becomes more familiar with its residents and residents’ families, allowing the staff to better meet the residents’ needs.
