Greensburg —
12-year-old Wyatt Vanderbur wanted to do something for his community, and for the second year, successfully raised $261 to give to the Cheer Fund.
In return for a $5 donation, Wyatt decorated the mail boxes of Ryle Edition with pine tree greenery and red ribbon.
“Thank you everyone for donating,” Wyatt said.
The young man told the Daily News that last year he had wanted to do some sort of public service project.
With the help of his grandmother, Rita Hellmich’s, brainstorming, Wyatt decided to travel the streets of Greensburg with Christmas decorations in tow. Rita Hellmich’s late husband, Charlie, was an avid supporter of the Cheer Fund.
Wyatt plans to continue his fund raising next year.
