Greensburg —
A Greensburg man is currently being held in the Decatur County Jail without bond on charges related to possession of two or more chemical reagents or precursors with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, a Class D felony.
Tyler Moody, 19, of 639 Park Road, Lot 10 in Greensburg, also faces multiple charges related to operating a motor vehicle without a license and failure to appear in court.
According to police reports filed in the Decatur County Circuit Court, Moody was initially arrested in June for the methamphetamine and motor vehicle-related charges, and was subsequently released on a $755 cash bond pending an Oct. 25 court appearance.
When the defendant failed to appear Oct. 25, a bench warrant was issued, and he was arrested Wednesday.
A police narrative of Moody’s June arrest states that the arresting officer first noticed the defendant stopped in a car on Broadway at Main Street.
Due to familiarity with the defendant from “previous police interaction,” the officer requested a driver’s license check from dispatch.
The results of that check indicated that Moody didn't have a license to operate a motor vehicle, but the defendant managed to briefly evade the officer.
Later that same night, however, the officer again encountered Moody driving the same vehicle, this time along Anderson Street.
According to the narrative, during the ensuing stop, police obtained permission to search the car and uncovered multiple cans of ether, a bottle of sodium hydroxide, a bottle of sulfuric acid, ammonium nitrate, lithium batteries, two gallons of water, pliers, filters and an empty box of pseudoephedrine.
These items, the report states, are commonly used “in the one-pot method of [methamphetamine] manufacturing.”
