The Greensburg Rotary Club presented Dennis and Susan Wilson with Paul Harris Community Fellowship Awards in honor of their service to the community. Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary International.
The Greensburg Rotary Club bestows this honor upon one or more non-Rotarians each year at its annual Christmas Party. Rotary Foundation Chair Larry Moore presented certificates and medallions to the
Wilsons commemorating the recognition.
The Wilsons are retired teachers who have dedicated their retirement years to helping the community in many ways. Some of the organizations they have been involved with include Habitat for Humanity,
Decatur Co. Community Foundation, Arts and Cultural Council, Meals on Wheels, Bread of Life, Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Optimist Club (Dennis), AGAPE Center and Women Educators (Susan). They
have served as elders and trustees of the First Presbyterian Church and help maintain the building.
Dennis also volunteers as a tax preparer for low-income individuals.
The Wilsons expressed their gratitude to the club for the awards. They spoke highly of Greensburg as a great place to live, work and raise a family. They are happy to be able to give back to the community
that has been so good to them. The Wilsons have two children and several grandchildren.
$1000 was donated to the Rotary Foundation in each of their names. Contributions to the Rotary
Foundation support programs such as providing safe drinking water throughout the world and helping Rotary realize its commitment to eradicate polio. Locally, the Greensburg Rotary Club supports the United Fund, YMCA, Hospice, Special Olympics, Make-A-Wish, The Kid’s Closet and many other organizations.
