Joining dozens of other United States Post Offices around the state, the Greensburg Post Office is participating in “Passport Day in the USA.”
The scheduled events are “passport fairs,” and the local version is taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 27. The events will provide passport information to U.S. citizens and give residents an opportunity to hand in passport applications. The Postal Service is joining the Department of State in celebrate the “Passport Day in the USA,” a national passport acceptance and outreach event.
United States citizens must present a valid passport book when entering or re-entering the United States by air. American citizens entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land border and sea ports of entry must present a passport book, passport card or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government.
“We are happy to leverage the convenience of the Postal Service and partner with the Department of State to help our customers apply for passports,” Kim Yates, communications programs specialist for the Greater Indiana District, explained.
Information on the cost and how to apply for a passport book or passport card can be found on the Web at www.usps.com/passport/ or www.travel.state.gov. United States citizens may also obtain passport information by phone, in English and in Spanish, by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1-877-487-2778.
