Concepts staff comfortable in new location

Greensburg — For about seven years, Bill and Teresa Nall's Concepts Salon and Day Spa has been a premier styling destination for hundreds of Decatur County residents.

Having recently moved to a new location on bustling North Michigan Avenue, the Nalls and their styling staff are hoping to attract more customers via their new surroundings, in addition to providing the best hair-care service they can muster.

If the new building Ñ formerly the home of Spectrum Auto Body Ñ is any indication, the staff of Concepts may be well on their way to accomplishing those goals.

Having virtually nothing aesthetically in common with the body shop once housed within its walls, the salon itself has undergone as much of a makeover as any of its customers. The new Concepts is more spacious and offers plenty of options for those looking for essentially anything from a pedicure to a stylish new "'do."

Those in the habit of tanning may also choose from 12 newly-purchased Sundash tanning beds. Each bed allows the user the option of selecting his or her own settings within the bed, meaning getting out to make adjustments is not necessary. The beds also feature built-in fans.

"It's a more cool and comfortable environment," noted Teresa Nall.

Concepts also offers massage therapy, manicures, facials, body waxing and hair extensions in addition to a variety of coiffures for both men and women.

Complementing the cuts are a plethora of hair-care products by Kenra, all of which are produced within the state of Indiana.

"We're trying to keep all of the money local; we're trying to buy within the community and the state," explained Teresa Nall. Those products come in two lines, one of which offers a more "luxurious" follicle treatment. Nall touted these hair-care options as another reason to visit Concepts the next time a haircut becomes a necessity.

Business, as a whole, mentioned Nall, has been positively impacted by the salon's move.

"We've been getting a lot of customers from Honda," said Nall. "Our weekly client load has doubled."

Nall further mentioned that it's not at all uncommon to have 30 customers at once when tanning, manicures, hairstylings and the like are all factored together.

Those many customers appear to be particularly satisfied as well.

Nall told the Daily News that her business has been nominated for two readers' choice awards. They've also won in two categories in the past: Favorite tanning destination and favorite hairstylist.

Teresa Nall also stated her intentions to make the new location a permanent one.

"We purchased this property and we intend to be here as long as we can," stated Nall. "It matches our creativity and vision."

The Concepts owner also gave thanks to Greensburg resident Kenny Hooten, who "worked Ôround the clock" to help bring that vision to fruition.

Nall said that the building already possesses a sort of "sentimental" appeal to her as well. Nall's father, Roger Blake, constructed a brick wall near the building's reception area. Teresa created a commemorative plaque for the new structure, further adding to its uniqueness.

The new Concepts is located at 933 North Michigan Avenue and is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Nall said that salon hours typically increase during the summer months. Nall stated plans to have Concepts open for business from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
