Long review expected of deadly plane crash

Greensburg — Federal investigators say it could take six months or more before they rule on what caused a small plane to crash in southeastern Indiana, killing all four people on board.

The single-engine plane being flown by 46-year-old Donald Horan of Greensburg crashed Sunday evening into a wooded area near the city’s airport in foggy, misty conditions.

National Transportation Safety Board investigator Stuart Bothwell told The Indianapolis Star that Horan’s plane was a complex pressurized model with modern avionics.

Others killed in the crash were Horan’s 44-year-old wife Barbara and their friends 45-year-old Stephen Butz and his 42-year-old wife, Denise.

They were returning from a trip to Florida.

A joint memorial mass for all four is set for Friday at the Greensburg High School gym.
