Greensburg — Parents have a sick child, they have an idea what's wrong and what needs to be done to fix it. They go to the hospital and are told you need to see our group of doctors so they can examine and decide the best way to fix the problem. The doctors agree with the parents as to what's wrong but they have a different way of fixing it. So the parents decide to go to the hospital executives because they don't like the doctor's decision. The hospital executives say your right we'll have it done your way. In my opinion the doctors are the ones more qualified to make this decision.

The family wants to build three houses on their property. I agree they should be able to. They've paid for it, paid the taxes, maintained it and this is America. But you have a board that is appointed to oversee this type of thing in the county. A well qualified board who must have seemed a good choice at the time or I don't think they would have been chosen.

The county has a plan in place to help regulate the growth in and of the county. This is a plan the county has put in place, not something that this board has just pulled out of the air for this situation. The decision is made that the location for these three houses does not meet the criteria of the county plan.

This is not a popular or accepted decision so it is bypassed and appealed to the "executives" of the county (County Commissioners). They overturn the board's decision. Who is more qualified to make that decision? If you are not going to abide by the decision of a well-qualified board who has been put in place and have done a good job of upholding the county's plan then why do you have them?

I have nothing against the family or the commissioners but I don't think this board should be crucified for doing their job correctly. There were alternatives for home sites that met the criteria of the county plan that were offered but refused.

It's easy to make a popular decision that makes the majority happy, but thanks Albert, Dan, Jay and others for doing your job correctly.

With due respect to all,
