Angie McLaughlin is completing her third semester with Ivy Tech Community College Columbus and has been accepted into the (very competitive) Dental Assisting program.  Angie lost her job at Delta Faucet, Greensburg after 18 years of employment. Angie says that losing her job was one of the most emotionally challenging times in her life.  She was unsure about what she was going to do next and had lost confidence in herself and her abilities.

Angie reluctantly decided to take advantage of an education assistance program, TAA, and go back to school. Angie visited the Greensburg Learning Center where the Ivy Tech Community College Cooperative staff assisted her in completing the necessary steps and paperwork to enroll and register for classes. Angie battles Crohn's Disease which was amplified by the stress of losing her job and going back to school. At one point during this transition she had become so ill from the stress that she nearly gave up. However, with help from the College Cooperative staff Angie was able to get started and slowly regained her confidence and became more comfortable with her coursework. She has been extremely successful and has made the Dean's List every semester and was recenlty invited to join Phi Theta Kappa, a distinguished Honor Society for college students. Angie is an inspiration to her fellow classmates because she works hard, is focused and has a positive attitude. Angie will begin her Dental Assisting classes this fall and looks forward to entering into her new career path in the next year.
