The staff of Greensburg Elementary School has been participating in a weight loss program this school year that has benefited not only their health but local organizations as well.
The first session of the program collected canned goods for the Daily News Cheer Fund. The second session, with 61 participants, shared its proceeds with the Greensburg Decatur County Animal Shelter.
“We have a lot of animal-lovers in this building,” Gayle McIntyre explained.
Lisa Duerstock, Heidi Stagge and McIntyre presented a $300 donation to Greensburg Decatur County Animal Control Officer Mike Wenning on Friday. He noted the funds will be used to assist in animal care, particularly to making the animals more comfortable during their stay at the shelter.
