Residents, staff, family and friends gatherered together at Hickory Creek on Monday to honor employees who have gone above and beyond.
Administrator Linda Semon noted that the staff of the local facility is special and adds to the feeling of extended family there. Whether they began working there many years ago or just last month, their efforts are noticed and appreciated by those higher up in the company through the awarding of employee of the month status.
In 2009, Becky Lengerich, Mia Sweet, Terifia Probst, Breanna Huber, Haley Holdreith, Cheryl Harford, Angee Folsom, Nancy DeBusk, Rebecca Gatewood, Ruby Matthews, Deborah Dickson and Sherry Kellems were honored. Lengerich and Probst had ended their employment prior to the close of 2009 and were not present for the ceremony. On Monday, the remaining 10 were given a rose and a key chain in the shape of a home, inscribed “Come Grow With Us.”
For each candidate for employee of the year, a resident, supervisor or family member offered a few words about what makes that person special and how they have grown during their time as employees of Hickory Creek. While each person had proven themselves to be an asset to the facility through good attendance, teamwork, positive attitude and assisting the facility to grow, Ruby Matthews, who has worked at Hickory Creek for nearly 30 years, was chosen as Employee of the Year for 2009.
She noted that it was not her first time being honored in that way, but she remained surprised. She was awarded with a plaque, a bouquet of roses and a Hickory Creek coat.
