The Decatur County Family YMCA recently announced the winners of the New Year’s Resolution Solution, a 10-week program put together to help focus the community on wellness and weight loss.
Finishing in third place was Amy Neimeyer-Davis, and in second was Angela Foster. Walking away with the first place finish was Noreen Niles. All three winners are from Greensburg.
The program concentrates on its promotions through exercise and offering education on nutrition. Those who participated in the program were challenged to earn a set number of points by coming over to the YMCA to exercise and further their weight-loss pursuit. Bonus points were given for attending the weekly Boot Camp class, and each participant had their own health assessment as part of their involvement in the program.
Nutrition classes were also a big part of the New Year’s Resolution Solution. Those classes included information on supplements, eating the right foods for certain bodies, managing stress levels and the prevention of osteoporosis. Every other week, the participants weighed in to determine their progress. When the 10 weeks were finished, Foster, Neimeyer-Davis and Niles emerged victorious with the most weight loss.
The program was sponsored by Delta, Gecom, ETC, Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Southern Indiana Orthopedics, Magic Act Salon and Day Spa, Health 1st, Hilliard Lyons, the Decatur County United Fund and Next Generations.
The Decatur County Family YMCA’s next wellness program, called C-L-I-M-B into Summer, will be kicking off on April 20. C-L-I-M-B is a six week program, and registration is ongoing. For more information, those interested can contact fitness coordinator Deena Hamer at 663-YMCA (9622).
