Walking along the southside of the city square, passers-by may notice the newly established motor sports shop, with a sign over the door that says “J & J Extreme Motor Sports.”
The two J’s stand for Josh and Jessica Rich, the owners of the store. Josh Rich is a Greensburg native, while Jessica Rich is originally from Brookville. The two were married in 2004.
“We got married on a cruise ship,” Jessica Rich said.
Following the ceremony, the newly married couple honeymooned in Jamaica, the Grand Caiman Islands and Mexico. For Jessica Rich, it was the first time she had ever visited exotic locations like that and was an experience the two would not soon forget.
“I’m ready to go on another one,” Jessica Rich said.
But a second honeymoon will have to wait. The couple is about to embark on an adventure of another kind. Jessica Rich is about seven months pregnant, and is due at the end of March. The Riches plan to name their new little girl Kadence Alana. Jessica’s birthday is March 17, and she is hoping that Kadence is also born on that day.
In the meantime, both Josh and Jessica work their regular jobs before coming to the motor sports shop in the afternoon. Business has been good, they said, especially around Christmas time. But things can always improve, and with riding season about to start up in March, the Riches expect business to pick up.
“This was his dream,” Jessica said of the shop. “I was along for the ride. He’s been into this as long as I’ve known him.”
Originally, Josh Rich was interested more in dirt bikes. But according to Jessica Rich, an accident changed all that.
“He went for a big jump, and ended up in the E.R.,” she said.
Between running the shop, working their jobs, preparing for the new baby and spending time with her step-son Devin, Jessica Rich does not have much free time. When she does, she helps Josh Rich get ready for the ATV cross-country series, the GNC Series and the Haspin Acres Series. Those series, Josh Rich said, are largely complex trails through the woods.
Earlier in her life, Jessica Rich began playing soccer in high school which ignited an interest in the game that she still has. She participated in adult co-ed leagues in Cleves, Ohio, but since her move to Greensburg and the pregnancy, her soccer prowess has been put on temporary hold.
When Josh and Jessica Rich moved to Greensburg, they purchased 42 acres in the county, which allowed them to follow their motor sports interests and gave Devin a large backyard in which to play. The location allows Josh Rich to engage in some of his favorite hobbies, including hunting, fishing and chopping wood. He also used to take Jessica out on their boat quite a bit, but that has slowed down with everything else happening in their lives.
Josh and Jessica Rich are now only looking to the future racing toward it full throttle, smiling as they enjoy the ride.
