Here is a list of events at Knightstown surrounding the 20th anniversary celebration of the release of the movie “Hoosiers”:
Saturday — 11 a.m., parade, featuring director David Anspaugh, screenwriter Angelo Pizzo, Hickory Huskers cast members, and the 1954 Milan Indians who inspired the film’s plot. 6 p.m., memorabilia auction, featuring a speech by new Indiana University basketball coach Kelvin Sampson. Auction admission is $75 per person.
Sunday — 7 p.m., showing of “Hoosiers” in the gym, using the only 35-millimeter version of the movie still in existence. Admission is a freewill donation.
Monday — 11:30 a.m., Hickory Hacker Golf Outing at Royal Hylands Golf Club. Fee is $300 per foursome.
Tuesday and Wednesday — Tours of the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in New Castle. Bus originally used in the movie will shuttle tourists between the two sites.
Thursday, June 8 — 9:30 a.m., vintage fashion show, historical lecture about gym’s history and breakfast. 11 a.m., Tin Can Tourists’ antique RVs show.
Friday, June 9 — 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., girls and boys games in the Hoosiers Reunion All-Star Classic at gym. All 666 seats are sold out.
Saturday, June 10 — All day, Hoosiers Classic 3 on 3 basketball tournament at gym. Entry fee is $100 per team. 7 p.m., 1950s sock hop at gym. Admission is $10 per person.
Saturday, June 11 — All day, Hoosiers Classic 3 on 3 tournament finals. 7 p.m., showing of “Hoosiers.”
