Diamonds Fast Pitch Places Third
BATESVILLE — The 11 and under Indiana Diamonds fast pitch team placed 3rd in the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) State Tournament in Columbus on June 13 -14.
The Diamonds kicked off the weekend with an 8-2 victory against the Indy Blast before suffering a 7-5 loss to the Southern Indiana Crush.
On Sunday they played three games in the double-elimination tournament. The Diamonds beat the Indy Edge 8-5 to set up a rematch with the Blast which they won 8-0 to gain the finals of the losers bracket.
In that game, the Southern Indiana Crush avenged the earlier loss by defeating the Diamonds in a fiercely competed 9-8 game.
The Diamonds have qualified to play in the 11 ad under USSSA National World Series in July.
The Diamonds are sponsored by Ohio Rod Products, Best Metal Finishing, Moffett's Aqua Systems, Enhanced Telecommunications Corporation, Hughes Mowing Service, Hughes Tree Service, Pizza Factory and Wilson Law Offices.

To review the selections for North Decatur, Stephen Speer was the Male Athlete of the fall, Sarah Wallpe was the Female Athlete of the Fall, Katie Gahimer and Alex Pulskamp were Athletes of the Winter and Ben Wenning and Kendra Fasbinder took the laurels for the season just past.
