Greensburg downs Panthers in golf

Greensburg got a one over par 36 from Megan Gindling to pace the Lady Pirates to a 174-182 victory over Jennings County at the Greensburg Country Club Thursday evening.

Following Gindling were Brianna Scheidler 43, Hillary Miller 45, Kasey kilgore 50, Ally Giddings 54, Stephanie Wenning 45, Kyra Domingo 58 and Sara Threash 62.

Scoring for Jennings County were Linda Greenhouse 42, Jessica Beeman 45, Molly Knight 45 and Meghan Bender 50.

“I was pleased with Megan’s great round of golf,” said Coach Phyllis Hamilton. “ And I was also pleased with Giddings and Wenning’s scores. They’ve worked hard recently and their scores are coming down.”

The Lady Pirates play Columbus east at the Otter Creek Golf Course on Tuesday.

North Decatur's varsity cross country teams ran a dual meet with Waldron Thursday afternoon at North. North's boys won 24-35 and are now 2-0. The girls lost to Waldron 34-21, and are now 0-2.

Taking first place in the boys’ race was Derek Moore with a personal best time of 20:00 minutes. Other times and places for the chargers were: Fourth Andy Seiter 20:59, fifth Shane Smith 21:36, sixth Ethan Rich 22:08, eighth Jarrod Nobbe 22:22, ninth David Bedel 23:05 and 10th Anthony Bedel 23:21. Nobbe and Anthony Bedel each recorded their best time ever.

Megan Everhart of Waldron won the girls’ race with a time of 21:26 minutes. Victoria Leffel led North Decatur with a second place finish in 23:36. Other places and times were: Sixth Julie Ricke 27:46, seventh Charlee Miller-Combs 27:48, ninth Leya Meece 31:32, 10th Kelsey Kramer 38:40.

Meece’s time was a personal best.

“The cooler weather and aggressive running helped lower times tonight,” said Coach Ed Parker. “Derek did an outstanding job working his way to first place for the Chargers and Victoria also ran very well for her second place finish.”

We run next Tuesday at North against Edinburgh.
