Club Chatter - May 12
Clinton Club
Clinton Club met on Tuesday, May 1st the home of Reggie Osborn. Reggie had a game for us to play. Everyone received a sheet of paper entitled, "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" Maxine Hayes and Michelle Komors were the winners of this contest. Delicious refreshments of strawberry pie, nuts, mints and chips were enjoyed. President Connie Fruchtnicht called the meeting to order. The Pledge to the American Flag and Home Ec. Creed were recited. Betty Chadwell read Devotional thoughts on Thankfulness and the poem Portraits. The thought of the month was read. Maxine Hayes led the members in the song I’m looking over a 4 leaf clover. Happy Anniversary was sung to Michelle Komora. Roll Call was answered with 11 members present. The April minutes were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given.
For Old business – International Night was discussed. Everyone enjoyed their meal at El Reparo’s. It was a wonderful evening. The slate of officers was given for the next two years: President – Connie Fruchtnicht, Vice President – Linda Volk, Secretary – Reggie Osborn, Treasurer – Janie Stutz. Linda made the motion to accept the slate of officers, Maxine seconded the motion. The vote carried.
The Health and Safety lesson was given by Betty. She told us to check our propane gas tanks for leaks before using the grill. Cut flowers improve your health and make you feel better.
New business: We passed a sign up sheet for next year’s meetings. Officer packets were handed out. Dues were paid.
Donna Flint gave a lesson on Nutrition and Osteoporosis. She handed out a members guide for us to use and follow. Michelle will give the lesson next month.
Our June 5th meeting will start at the Last Supper Museum House at 6:00. We will then go to the First Christian Church for our meeting.
Thanks were given to Reggie Osborn for hosting the meeting and Betty Chadwell for refreshments.
The meeting was closed with the club prayer.
Candlelighters Club
The Candlelighters Club met at Helen Wasson’s home with hostess, Irene Dwiggins, on May 9 with three members and one guest.
President, Esther Applegate gave the club creed and the Pledge to the Flag. Esther gave the thought of the month. Irene gave gave devotions “You Are the One” and For Mother.
Helen Wasson gave the Treasurer’s Report.
The dues were taken up and a sympathy card was signed for Irene Dwiggins whos brother, Joseph Watts, of Somerset, Massachusetts passed away last week.
The meeting was closed with the club prayer.
Refreshments were served. Esther Applegate won the door prize.
The next meeting will be with hostess Helen Wasson on June 13 at 1 p.m.
The Forest Hill Homemaker’s Extension Club
The Forest Hill Homemaker’s Extension Club met at Trackside on May 3. Clara Chipman, President, conducted the meeting with the creed and the Pledge to the Flag. Clara read the thought of the month and devotions were “Sunset Years.” Alice Grimes read “The Farmer Plowing.” The Secretary’s report was read. Dues were collected to be sent to the Treasurer by May 15.
Cards were signed and messages written to Emma Baugh in the Decatur County Hospital and Nina Venters at the Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Columbus. There was discussions on the lesson, “Quick Cooking Making Healthy Relationships’, Looking at the Bright Side.”
There were suggestions on a Spring trip for club members.
The next meeting will be on June 7.
The meeting closed wih singing the Extension Homemaker’s Club Prayer.
Alpha Alumnae
The Alpha Alumnae of Delta Theta Tau met at the home of Kathryn Schoettmer. The meeting opened by the Vice Prsident, Willa Ford, with the Sorority Prayer. The secretary’s report was give by Dorine Bruns. Nine members answered roll call.
A note was read from the Doroha Wenning Family. The news letter from the Arts and Cultural Council was read. There was a discussion and vote on memorial gifts for two of our deceased members.
A bakeless bake sale was held durring the meeting. The June meeting will be held at the home of Lucille Wallpe.
The social time was spent playing cards. Prizes of Annual Flowers were awarded to Lucille Wallpe, Marilyn Moeller and Lena Platt. Refreshments were served by the hostess.
Sandusky United Methodist Women
The Sandusky United Methodist Women met at the home of Lucille Donica for lunch on May 9. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch. Prayer was by Lucille Donica.
ruth Flack, President, opened the meeting with everyone singing, “Because He Lives,” and “Have Thine Own Way.”
Betty Chadwell had devotions, reading a poem entitled, “Mother’s Day” and closed with prayer.
Ten members and one guest, Janice Johnston, answered roll call by reading Bible verses taken from “Vital Minutes for Women.”
The March minutes were read and approved.
We had no Treasurer’s report due to the absence of the Treasurer. Love Gift offering was $14.
The Sandusky United Methodist Women gave a monetary gift for District Supt., Ida Easley, who will be having sugery. A card was signed to be sent to a member in the nursing home.
A game was played with Jan DeMoss, Willy Smith and the Swango winners.
The next meeting will be at, “The Great Wall,” on June 13 at 11:30 a.m.
The meeting closed with, “The Lord’s Prayer,” and our Prayer Song.
St. Maurice Community Extension Homemakers
The St. Maurice Community Extension Homemakers met on May 3 at 7 p.m. at the home of Esther Wallpe assisted by Ruth Wallpe.
Evelyn Kramer presided at the meeting. All recited the prayer, pledge to the flag and the club creed. Rita Hellmich read the thought of the month. Roll call was answered by six members and one guest with a lesson that your mother taught you. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were given by Eileen Fisse.
It was reported that four members attended International Night and enjoyed it very much. We had three cultural arts exhibits. The baby set that Marlene Meyer crocheted will represent Decatur County at the Purdue Conference in June. There was some discussion about the display at the Decatur County Fair in July. Dues for the coming year were collected.
There was a very interesting program on the local juvenile probation system. The meeting closed with the singing of the club prayer.
There was a plant exchange with a variety of plants, Tomato, Mums, Marigolds, Ivy, Coleus, Rhubarb and Asparagus. Evelyn had an interesting game of scrambled words of various pies. The winner was Jamie Nobbe. Delicious refreshments were served. Everyone signed a card for Esther Wallpe who was in the hospital.
The next meeting will be a salad pitch-in at the home of Rita Hellmich on June 7 at 6:30 p.m., Elaine Nobbe will give the lesson entitled, “Make every moment count.”
Night Extension Homemakers Club
The Night Extension Homemakers Club met at the Batesville home of Bernardine Mack on Wednesday, May 2, with president Catherine Mauer
presiding. We welcomed new member Joan Greiwe, and 'joked' with her
throughout the meeting as to expectations of new members, and she still
joined.
Anniversary wishes were sung to Bessie Ploeger, Linda Weigel, Luella
Lecher, Janet Bedel, and Bernardine. Birthday greetings went to Mary
Wolter, Bessie, and Luella. Since it was raining outside, we sang 'Singin' in the Rain.' Bernardine led us in saying the Hail Mary for devotions. Co-hostess Liz Hally read the thought of the month.
Our roll call response was a lesson your mother taught you, and was
answered by the 10 ladies present. Secretary Janet Hagerty and treasurer Liz gave their reports. We each paid our county dues of $10.
Information for the upcoming Open Class Fair exhibits was distributed.
Our club, along with the St. Maurice Club and educator Atina Rozhon,
will be doing a promotion at the Decatur County Fair for the homemaker
organization. More information will be forthcoming on this.
Great comments were made about the recent International Night at El Reparo.
Catherine announced that Achievement Night will be Monday, October
1, at 6:30 PM at the Greensburg Community Learning Center, and will be
catered by Catering to You. We will be co-hosting this annual event
with Club 53.
Health and Safety leader Linda told us be sure to use sun block, and also check for ticks. Bessie gave the leader lesson on Nutrition and Osteoporosis. For Cultural Arts, Loretta Macyauski showed a quilt that she has been helping to get completed for her church picnic.
Luella won the mystery box. Several won prizes with "Mother' games conducted by Liz. Delicious refreshments were served by Bernardine.
Our next meeting will be a change from our program book, and will be at Linda's home on June 6, at 7:30 PM. Luella will assist her. Bernardine will give the lesson.

The Candlelighters Club met at Ponderosa for their birthday party on April 11 with four members.
All the members enjoyed their meals and being together. - Club Chatter (3/10) The Alpha Pi Chapter of AOA met on February 27 at the Cracker Barrel in Shelbyville. Valerie Donaca was hostess for the occasion.

- Club Chatter The Night Extension Homemakers Club members have always said that if the weather conditions are not desirable, then we would probably not have our meeting. Well, this happened on Wednesday, with the snow and very cold temperatures.
