Alpha Pi Chapter



The Alpha Pi Chapter of AOA met on February 27 at the Cracker Barrel in Shelbyville. Valerie Donaca was hostess for the occasion.

President, Loucille Donica opened the meeting by having Secretary, Dot Lawrence, give the secretary’s report. Followed by the treasurer’s report by Mary Kreckeler.

The April Council meeting was discussed and a meal was decided upon. The Corner Store will cater the meal. The Council meeting will be held on April 2 at 6:30. The meeting place will be decided later.

Sarah Dewiert won the door prize.

Jean Reed won the card draw.

The next meeting will be on March 28 at 6:00 with Annie Ricke will be the hostess.



Linger Awhile Home Ec Club



The Linger Awhile Home Ec Club met on February 20 at Wendy’s for their regular monthly meeting. President Theresa Ripperger presided beginning with the Pledge to the Flag and the Homemakers Creed. For devotions, Paulette Duerstock, read a poem entitled “Precious Memories” by Omega Watson Wagner. Rosemary Schroeder gave the thought of the month. Roll call was taken with six members present answering the question “Do you remember the first Valentine you received from a favorite someone?” Paulette gave the Secretary’s report and Diann Reisman reported on the balance in our treasury, Theresa Ripperger attended the February 5 Council meeting and gave her report. The Spring District meeting will be on March 22 in Dearborn County. International Night is tentatively set for April 18 and State Conference will be May 15-17.

For Health and Safety, everyone checked their blood pressure with Diann’s talking blood pressure cuff. The meeting concluded with the Homemaker’s Club Prayer. Rosemary Schroeder presented the lesson “Garage Sale Treasures”. Diann Reisman won the 50/50. The next meeting will be at the home of Theresa Rueff on March 20 when the lesson will be “Do you know your medical history?”



Alpha Alumnae



Members of the Alpha Alumnae Chapter of Delta Theta Tau met at the home of Lena Platt. Vice President, Willa Ford, opened the meeting with the Delta Prayer. Dorine Bruns, Sec. Treas., called roll and read the minutes of the February meeting. It was voted to make a donation to the Greensburg After Prom Committee. Final plans were made in preparation for the combined party to be held at the Mulligan Grille. A luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. on April 14. Following the meeting, a social hour was enjoyed playing cards. Prizes were awarded to Ruth Knecht, Freda Meek and Betty Meyer.



St. Maurice Extension Homemakers



The March meeting of the St. Maurice Extension Homemakers was held on March 1 at the home of Annie Ricke who led the club in saying the Hail Mary for the prayer. Evelyn Kramer, President, presided at the meeting. All recited the pledge to the flag and the club creed.

Eileen Fisse read the thought of the month. The song My Wild Irish Rose was sung. Roll call was answered by seven members with “If you were offered a trip, where would you go?” The answers were Alaska, Hawaii and the New England states. Eileen Fisse gave the secretary and treasurer reports. It was decided by the group to discontinue the 50/50 drawing for the time being.

Esther Wallpe gave a very interesting Health and Safety lesson on “Wash your hands” Always wash hands when using the restroom and changing diapers, handling garbage, preparing food, sneezing, coughing, etc., and dealing with pets. Evelyn Kramer reported on the recent council meeting she attended. New county officers were elected and lessons for the coming year and the newsletter were discussed.

Rosie Wenning read an interesting story. Esther also gave the lesson “Cut the clutter and find the comfort”. She said try to have a place for everything and put it back in is place. When cleaning do only a few boxes at a time, so you don’t get overwhelmed by the task. Also organize menus a week in advance and shop accordingly, for it saves time.

The meeting was closed with the singing of the club creed. Eileen Fisse had two games with the St. Patrick’s Day theme. Unscramble words and word search. Winners were Rosie Wenning and Rita Hellmich. The hostess served delicious refreshments with the holiday theme also. Esther Wallpe won the door prize.

The next meeting will be on April 5 at the home of Evelyn Kramer. Rita Hellmich will give the lesson Hop into Spring.



Modern Trends Home Extension Club



The Modern Trends Home Extension Club met on February 27 at the home of Marilyn Strasburger at 7 p.m. with nine members present.

Carol Firsich had a project to make coin purses and this was done before the meeting, then President Ann Stagge called the meeting to order with the members saying the creed followed with the Pledge to the Flag. The hostess had devotion “Sonnet Divine” by George R. Kossik. Jean Pratt read the thought of the month “Women can never be as successful as man; they don’t have their wives to help them.” Carol then led the members in singing “Let me call you sweetheart”. Secretary Kathryn Schoettmer had roll call Do you remember the first Valentine you received from a favorite someone? Then she read the minutes from the January meeting. Lucille Wenning gave a lesson on what o do to keep your heart healthy.

A short discussion was held on where the club would be going to eat in April, more on this at the March meeting.

Also, it was announced that Ann Stagge is the new Secretary for the County Extension Club.

Lesson on Garage Sales was given by Marilyn Strasburger.

The meeting closed with the club prayer. Everyone received door prize, refreshments were served.

The next meeting will be at the home of Shirley Armstrong on March 20 at 7 p.m.
