Jan (Peters) Ziegenfus, president, and Ruth E. Ainsworth, director of communications of the Decatur County Republican Women’s Club No. 2 joined nearly 2,000 other Republican women leaders from across the nation in Nashville, Tenn., for the National Federation of Republican Women’s 33rd bicentennial convention. It was one of the largest meetings of Republicans this year and the official kickoff of the 2006 Campaign.
In observance of the 9/11 Anniversary, many patriotic programs were presented with music for which Nashville is known.
The highlight of the program for the delegates from Indiana was the last activity on the program, the awarding of the Ronald Reagan Leadership award. T
he presentation of a bronze bust of the former President went to Joyce Smith, President of Indiana Federation of Republican Women.
She is also chairperson of the Cass County Republican party. Joyce established 20 new Republican Women’s Clubs in the years of 2004-2005. Local DCWRC No. 2 is one of the clubs and is now celebrating its first Anniversary of Charter.
