Greensburg - Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) and Margaret Mary Community Hospital (MMCH) announce an exciting new diagnostic and treatment option to be led by a new physician relocating to the area. Dr. Ed Negovetich joined DCMH and MMCH on July 1, serving patients and the hospitals in both Greensburg and Batesville and their surrounding communities.
As a Physiatrist, or physical medicine and rehabilitation physician, Dr. Negovetich is a specialist in diagnosing and treating problems of the musculoskeletal system and will see patients of all ages. With his specialty, Dr. Negovetich will take thorough histories of patients and find the source of the patient’s pain, injury or disability when standard diagnostics don’t reveal specific problems.
Dr. Negovetich has extensive training in diagnosing and treating diseases and conditions such as; low back pain, neck pain, arthritis, work injuries, overuse syndromes, myofascial pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, sports/activity related injury, amputee rehabilitations, prosthetics/orthotics, stroke and neurological disorders, spinal cord injury, and a number of other musculoskeletal disorders.
Physiatrists work in partnership with their patients to coordinate a customized course of care. This can include non-surgical treatments such as; medications, therapeutic exercise, injections, assistive devices, heat and cold therapy, massage, biofeedback and electrotherapies. Dr. Negovetich will also perform Electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction study tests. Should surgery be necessary the physiatrist works with the surgeon before and after to coordinate the proper level of care.
Bill Alloy, CEO of DCMH and Jim Amos, CEO of MMCH released a joint statement expressing the enthusiasm of both facilities in attracting a physician and specialist such as Dr. Negovetich. Dr. Negovetich is a graduate of Wabash College and the Indiana University School of Medicine. He studied in the Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin and performed his residency at the Indiana University Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He and his wife Aimee have a three-year old son, Jake, and are expecting their second child this fall. He enjoys sports, camping, golf and family activities.
