ETC donates to United Fund

Greensburg — The Decatur County United Fund (DCUF) recently expressed its gratitude to Enhanced Telecommunications Corporation (ETC) of Greensburg for donating $500 toward its goal of $330,000 for the 2012 Decatur County United Fund "Building a Better Tomorrow' Campaign.

ETC's $500 donation will help ensure quality health and human services are available for everyone in Decatur County.

Gifts such as this can build strong kids through programs such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, scouting, and Advocates for Children, according to representatives of the DCUF.

A donation makes health services, including the Community Healthcare Clinic and Hospice, readily available. Organizations such as the American Red Cross, Bread of Life food pantry and Meals on Wheels can continue to function thanks to individuals and businesses who donate to the DCUF. In all, 25 programs will be funded in 2013.

In addition, ETC donated a Kindle Fire for the United Fund auction planned for Friday, Nov. 2 at Greensburg's Knights of Columbus.

The Kindle Fire by Amazon is a device intended for anyone who enjoys entertainment, web, games, reading and similar activities.

Last year, 295 individuals placed bids on autographed items, local artwork, destinations, and much more to raise just shy of the $60,000 toward the campaign goal. The Kindle Fire will be a new item this year.

Joane Cunningham, DCUF executive director, stated, "ETC continues to support programs provided by over 21 agencies here in our community that are funded by the Decatur County United Fund. It is businessesÕ like this that can make the most impact in one single donation.'

Jenni Hanna, ETC public relations coordinator, added, "ETC is proud to support local, community-serving organizations like the United Fund. The local United Fund does an excellent job of analyzing local needs and stretching dollars to help fill those gaps. ETC is privileged to play a small part in the work the United Fund does."
