RISING SUN, Ind. (AP) — Prosecutors say the attorney for a southern Indiana teenager accused of strangling his younger brother plans to use an insanity defense in his trial.
Seventeen-year-old Andrew Conley did not appear in an Ohio County courtroom for Friday’s hearing, at which a judge set a May 3 jury trial.
Dearborn and Ohio County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard says the court will pay to retain a psychologist to evaluate Conley, and will appoint two doctors for his trial.
Conley faces adult murder charges in the Nov. 28 death of his 10-year-old brother. He’s accused of strangling Conner Conley and then dumping his body in a park.
Conley allegedly told officers he did it to satisfy his craving to kill.
Conley’s attorney did not immediately return a message seeking comment Friday.
