Arts Council Offers ‘A Night Of Romance’
It will be easy to find ‘A Night of Romance’ for local residents to celebrate Valetine’s Day without leaving Decatur County.
A Night of Romance is a jazz dinner at the Knights of Columbus put on by the Arts and Cultural Council. It will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Sat, Feb. 13.
Bill Rethlake will play piano for the opening music as guests enjoy dinner catered by The Fiddler’s Three. Then a vocal performance by Mary Duncan will follow. Duncan is a Greensburg native and the daughter of State Rep. Cleo Duncan. She has done programs for the Arts and Cultural Council in the past, including opera. Now she is switching to jazz accompanied by Dan Holmes Group. A Night of Romance offers great entertainment locally and a way to enjoy the holiday. There will be a dance floor, roses for sale and photo opportunities.
Tickets are $35 per person. They are available at Minear’s, Art on the Square Art Gallery and Doerflinger Insurance. Call 812-663-2460 for more information.

Dennis Imel, Jr. was sentenced this afternoon to 8 years minus time served in the reckless homicide conviction stemming from his father's death.

Tressler Arrested in Son's Death
Courtney Gail Tressler was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 18 on charges of neglect of a dependant, a Class A Felony, and reckless homicide, a Class A Felony.

Imel Jr. Convicted of Reckless Homicide
The jury deliberated for nearly four hours before returning with a guilty verdict of reckless homicide in the case against James Dennis Imel Jr. The charge was added during the second day as an additional consideration to the murder charge.

Local Man, 20, Charge In V ista Village Murder
James LaFramboise, 20, was officially charged with the murder of his great aunt, Mary Alice Simonson, 76, this afternoon. According to police reports, LaFramboise slit Simonson's throat then called for EMS around 9 a.m. He was taken into custody at the scene and charged about 3 p.m. Thursday.
