Like most 6-year-olds, Lucas Avant has few fears, but his parents worry more than most. Lucas has no health insurance. At 9 months old, doctors found he had a heart ailment.

They say he's now perfectly healthy, reports CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy, but he's been denied by six insurance companies because of his pre-existing condition.

"There's no reason why a healthy child should be denied health insurance that his family can pay for," says Lucas' father Jason Avant. "That seems absurd."

One killed in two-car crash this morning
The Decatur County Sheriff's Department is reporting one person was killed when a car collided with a box truck around 10 a.m. on State Road 3 South. The crash shutdown the highway until about 11:15. The identity of the decased and other details are not available at this time. Check back for more details.

County Commissioners Uphold APC Decision
Bex Farms and Bestway Disposal came before the Decatur County Commissioners Tuesday to appeal the decision of the Area Plan Commission to deny the rezoning 151 acres adjacent to the current landfill. The Commissioners reiterated the APC decision by voting unanimously not to rezone the ground.
